Week 87!

Hey mom!

Really not much to talk about on my end.  We didn't have a ton of time to work this week.  The president asked us to go to every house in our zone and take pictures of the mattresses (I know, weird. He just wants to make sure everyone is living okay).  So that took a bunch of time, haha.  Also, we had to go empty out a house, and then help some sisters in our zone move houses, so that was another day lost.  But hey, I can't be mad, we found 13 new investigators haha.  It was pretty cool.  A lot of them came from our 100 contacts.

Also, a cool thing, we had some appointments fall through this week and so we sat down, and were thinking about what to do, when I saw a lady poke her head out of her house, look around, and walk back in.  I went "hey guys, let's go teach that lady" and we went up to the door, and she let us in to teach her and her family.  Pretty cool.  It was a real nice miracle that happened to us.  Gotta love it.

Again mom, I'm sorry I keep pulling money out.  I don't know what to do...the mission keeps requiring me to spend big money....and they're just not paying me back so I'm kinda screwed. I promise I'm not just blowing cash left and right.  I had to pay for the moving truck the other day, and I had to pay to get to Bogota today and then a bunch of taxis to help people move and stuff.  Sorry...I'm a bass.

Love you a ton mom, have a good week! #ihit20monthstoday.

Week 86!

Hey mom!  Thanks for the music you sent.  You're keeping my comp and me alive right now, haha. :)
-An AP challenged us and some other companionships to get 100 contacts in 2 days. It was pretty hard and exhausting but I'm sure we´ll get a ton of new investigators for it this week.
-My comp and I have become chefs. Which is pretty good.  We've been trying to good better in the house to waste less money and eat healthier. So far so good.
-We had 8 investigators come to church yesterdee which was pretty cool.  Can't go wrong there.
-There was a fireside here with the mission president, and he invited 2 investigators there (one of which doesn't feel like he is ready to get baptized) and president had an interview with him, and then called him out in front of the entire fireside and goes "Benito, I know you can change." And gave him a whole "just freaking get baptized man" in front of a ton of members.  So we're hoping to get some results soon.
-Don't worry about calling, if you gotta, you gotta.  Especially if Collin needs to talk.
-That's about it.

Love you mom.  Thanks for everything. You're the best.  Have a good week.

Week 85!

Hey mom! I wish I could write I nice long letter, but today has been kind of nuts and I don't wanna write a whole big letter.  So I'll just write it Tucker Johnson style.
-We`ve been working hard
-We have some investigators (a father and a son) the son is 16 and wants to get baptized, but the dad is not okay with it yet...so we went over and kind of hashed it out with him for a bit...it didn't work
-We found 2 miracle new investigators on Sundee when a member from another branch came to our chapel to bring his non member sister and brother in law :)
-Today we went nuts and bought a ton of food that should hopefully last us the whole transfer.
-Our recent convert Santiago is doing great, hes went to the district chess tournament for the young men, I don't know how he did, but I think he had fun
-A member played Lower Lights yesterday on his huge tv and his giant sound system and now it's all Elder Cannon and I can talk about
-My man Elder Hubbard wants you to get in contact with his mom because you guys live pretty close (his mom is awesome, I think you'll like her)
-Much love
-Thanks
-Talk to you soon.

Week 84!

Hey mom, so far so good!  We had a triple baptism week!  Which is a real nice thing.  Good way to end the transfer, and start off the month.  So the transfer ended and Elder Araujo left.  My new comp is Elder Cannon  from Utah. Super rad because he even graduated from Summit the same year as me...the only 2 missionaries in all of Bogotá south who graduated from Summit, graduated the same year and are comps, haha. Pretty cool.  The Mormon world is pretty small.

So we didn't have like any time at all to work is our area last week so I'm just glad to finally have some time to work.  Still so exhausted I just want to sleep for an entire day.

Love you guys like crazy, I wish  could write more...I'm just not sure what to write anymore.

 -We knocked some doors.
 -We did some teaching
-We did the same thing we've done the entire mission
 -still lovin' it.

Love you guys, thanks for writing me. I hope you have a good week.

Week 83!

Hey mom!  Yeah so everything is good! We got another baptism of a young kid. :) Haha, and there are still a few more to come.  We are baptizing the whole primary. :) It's okay though, part member families are a good way to work.  WE´RE BAPTIZING THE FUTURE OF THE CHURCH!  His name is Jaider. He's a good kid.  His mom has been a member for a few years, and kid dad is getting ready to get baptized one of these days so we're doing good. ;)

So we just got to Bogota today for  a meeting tomorrow.  I got to the offices and got my packages .:) I haven't opened them yet so I don't know what I got, but thanks a ton! You guys are awesome.

Sorry, I really don't have much to write.  I'm a little short on time, and nothing that crazy happened this week. We've just been running around like crazy, and I'm 100% tired 100% of the time.  WOOH.

Love you like crazy mom, thanks for everything.

Week 82!

Hey mom!  This week was really good! We got a baptism. Her name is Dana.  She's only 9, but she's a little cutie, haha.  She kills me.  Her grandparents are members, and she lives with them so we had to get her baptized ASAP!  Haha.

We also were able to find a lot of cool new investigators to work with! We've found a few more part member families to work with so you know we are hopefully about to have some baptisms.

I'm a little short on time, but yeah, life's good.

Also, I know you probably saw the money I blew through.  Lemme explain.  First, 150,000 on food.  I got a super good lunch for my comp and the boys.  Thanks.  Then, kind of miraculously right when you put the money on my card, a sister from my zone had to go to the hospital and she didn't have the money for it, so I had to help her out.  The mission is going to pay me back soon, and then a little bit of money I pulled out just to survive.  I'm doing alright though I swear. Thanks for everything.  Love you a ton.

Week 81!

Hey mom! It was a pretty good week leading up to the birthday. :) Just lots of hard work, and doing what we can :)  It was a pretty cool week and we are hoping to have lots of success in the coming weeks because of it.

First off, we found some part member families...yes, more than one.  For those of you that don't know, that's missionary GOLD.  It's the easiest and quickest way to get someone baptized.  So we found a lady who has a grandson named Juan-David who hasn't been baptized yet and so now hes getting ready to get baptized in the next few weeks.  He is a really cool kid, and when we invited him to be baptized he was like "Yeah, sounds sweet, when can I do it?" So we are happy.
We were walking by the church the other day, and a little girl came running out and goes "Elders! My grandpa´s keys got stuck in the door, can you help us out?" and so we did.  My comp was talking to the little girl, and she told him that she was turning 9 today, and that she hadn't been baptized yet....CONVERT BAPTISM. Haha, little miracle but pretty cool.  She comes to church every week so she can pretty much get baptized real soon.

Also, a new member showed up to church yesterday.  We didn't recognize him, so we talked to him to see when we could visit him.  He goes "You guys can visit me whenever you want, but talk to him, he's the investigator" and pointed to his friend.  Turns out they just moved to IbaguĂ©, and he is married to a member, but he just hasn't been baptized yet.  The whole family was really cool too, so he has a lot of support to help him get to baptism.

Yesterday in the morning the branch President called me and asked if I could give a talk in sacrament meeting.  So real quick I threw something together about missionary work.  I think it went pretty well, considering I had like 20 minutes to prepare it, haha.  Not bad at all.

But yeah, loving the work.  Loving being tired all the time.  Love the heat.  Loving life.  Thanks for everything mom.  Love you :) Talk to you next week.
